Increase of target retirement age: adjustment of your pension scheme |
|
Life expectancy is increasing in the Netherlands. As of 1 January 2018, therefore, the government is raising the target retirement age from 67 to 68. This involves an increased austerity of the tax framework as well as new defined contribution scales. Aegon PPI will adjust your pension scheme accordingly.
You will find a proposal in your employer portal at My Mail. Please be so kind as to respond to our proposal before 15 November. You can use the answer form for this.

New: getting in lane for a variable pension benefit |
|
Upon retirement your employees purchase a pension using their accrued pension capital. They can now opt for a fixed or a variable pension benefit. The government has introduced a variable pension to give employees a better chance of a higher pension. Opting for a fixed pension payment means choosing certainty; the exact amount of their life-long pension is known in advance. A variable pension benefit involves the continued investment of the pension capital after the retirement date. This means that, depending on the return on investment achieved, the amount of the pension benefit may be different from year to year. Though a variable pension offers less certainty, it is expected to yield more.
The choice for a fixed or a variable pension is not only made on the retirement date. Employees can start aiming at the choice they will make on their retirement date as of today. Getting in lane for a variable pension, we reduce the investment risk less quickly, as an employee continues to invest after the retirement date.
